I teach computers to Kindergarten through 5th grade students at Logan Elementary. Just this past week, I began teaching my 4th and 5th graders how to program using Scratch, which is a brilliant program.
Unfortunately, it is almost the end of the school year. I have only completed one Scratch lesson with the students so far, and will probably only do 3 or 4 more before the school year ends. So...I'm experimenting with what is the best way to introduce such a versatile program so that at the end of the year they have a good grasp of the basics.
My goal is to share that process and reflect on its usefulness. I'd also love any comments that other teachers might have in regards to the best methods they use to teach Scratch. That should lead to a very exciting use of the program next year.
